Image Update :)

As promised, here are some updates!

Believe it or not, these were taken in a hotel room. Rarely do I shoot in hotels, because creating quality images is important to me, and I find hotels to be uninspiring; there's only so much you can create in a space that's intended for sleeping. This shoot was an exception though, since it was only 2 hours and we had this window and amazing natural light to work with.

The pointe shoes were a random idea. I often find that improvising leads to work that's unexpected, because you're going with the flow and mood at the time. I just love how the shoes add a touch of elegance to these nudes.

Hope you like them! Taken by Wally Photo in London, Ontario (Canada)

Time for an update!

Sorry for the lack of updates! I'm working on it, and you can expect to see images going up over the next few weeks, so make sure you check back :)

Last month I went to the east coast & Midwest, which was fun. Recently I went to California for the first time in a couple of years. It made me realize how much I've missed it and need to visit more often. Add to that, the weather was a breath of fresh air compared to the deadly Arizona heat, so it was the perfect getaway. I even picked up a bit of a tan, which usually happens when I'm in places with a bit more humidity, so that was a bonus!

My health and fitness have been even more of a focus for me this year. I eat organic food, it's just when I'm on the road it's really tough to keep that up, but I have a travel cooler/lunchbox which is amazing, the only problem is keeping meals cold when you're traveling because ice only lasts for so long. I used to struggle finding something healthy with such limited time between shoots. I admit that I once went for most of a day without eating anything, because I just didn't have time, so I worked on giving myself more time between shoots and I've found it works easier when I have a kitchen so I can prep all my meals for the entire week.

It's interesting how our creative moods change by the month, or at least mine does :) When it comes to images I have times where I'm in a b&w mood or then I feel things are getting a bit depressing so I'm then in the mood for lots of vibrant color. This month I seem to be in a pointe shoe mood. You'll see what I mean once I get to uploading :)

Anyway, here are some from my recent shoot with Alan Bruce in San Diego. The studio we used had this window with such beautiful natural light. It was an inspiring shoot which resulted in really nice images. I can't wait to work with Alan again next month - we'll be working on location!

More images to come from this shoot soon :)........

About time!

Wow, it's been what seems like an eternity since I last updated this blog. I thought it was about time I put out a post to let you know I didn't die, lol. I've just been busy renovating my house - something that takes a lot of time and money, but through all the frustrations and mess (that's the worst bit for me!) I'm actually enjoying the process and seeing the transformation.

A lot of you probably don't know that I'm really into interior design and painting furniture. I also collect unique antiques. Though my creativity is being put to use in other ways right now that doesn't mean I'm gone for good. I'll be resuming travel again in July, once things progress a bit more with my house. I would love to share the progress. Perhaps I'll create a second blog, dedicated to renovations.

I have some images to share from my last trips, so will be posting those up soon. Look out for them! :)

Merry Christmas to everyone!!!

It seems like only yesterday that I was sending out last year's e-card. Time has flown again, but it's been a wonderful year, collaborating with new and familiar faces. I really couldn't do this without you all :)

As you know, my tradition is to shoot an annual snow nude. The Phoenix winters are usually 65F, so I have to travel 3 hours north for snow! But please keep an eye on my blog, as I have plans to shoot it towards the end of this month:

I hope you all have a great Christmas & hope to see you in the new year!

Below are the nudes of Christmas past ;)

Love & Best Wishes,

Kate* xx

Heading East...

In just 2 weeks I'll be packing my bags again and heading someplace cooler. It'll be a nice change for me after the temperatures we've had here. I'm so glad we're over the monsoon, which brought humidity and every type of bug you can imagine out of hiding and into our house. Fortunately our two cats love to hunt the crickets, so they didn't last long, but I got the task of cleaning up all the scattered limbs!

What I miss about England are the seasons, though fellow Brits would disagree with me about getting any kind of summer season over there, lol, but autumn (fall) is so beautiful. To prove how deprived I've been I once pulled over in NY to capture the golden brown leaves floating across the road, something that I've never taken the time to appreciate before. The east coast gets such pretty arrays of browns, golden and red tones. Some photographers are reluctant to stick me outside in November, but I jump at the chance to work in those autumn scenes. You've seen my snow nudes, so fall is no problem :)

I wish I could share the video. It's on my old phone which I haven't backed up to dropbox. Will share in another post.

So here are the dates of my trip coming up in Nov, for the east coast and Midwest. I have limited time slots left, so please get in touch if you want to catch me on this trip. I'm open to both studio and location, or both, whatever you have in mind.

I have a backlog of images to share from some of my trips, it's about time they saw the light of day, so check back for those :)

5th-11th: NYC, Upstate NY, NJ, PA - 3 time slots left
12th-16th: Maryland, Virginia, DC - 2 time slots left
17th-19th: North Carolina, TN - 2 left
20th/21st: Ohio - 3 left
22nd-26th: Michigan, Illinois - 2 left

The Shining Light :)

Here are some shots from a session with Chris Maxwell. I always enjoy collaborating with him, because of how creative he is with his lighting. You always feel like he gives a lot of thought to every shoot he does, so no two shoots are alike. He's always so well prepared with general concepts too, such fluid efforts where I can bring my style to the scene. I love when you connect with someone creatively.

My inspiration with the last two shots was "Light of the world," based on these scriptures...

John 8:12: Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Matthew 5:14-15: "You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house"

John 9:5: "As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

Sorry for the delay in sharing these. More to post soon :).....
