I'm due to get my coach at 4:30am, from Bournemouth to Gatwick airport and I'm hoping I make it through this nightmare weather!
I don't get it. What is it with England? Every time there's a disaster everything stops, and there is never a back-up plan! How would England survive in a more serious disaster?
England is known for it's cold weather, especially in the winter, so you would think that over the years there would be preparations for this type of bad weather, particularly on the roads where accidents can and will occur. But no. Instead, everything stops. It's a joke really.
Airports have been closing and flights canceled. The Eurostar service from London to France has been canceled for 3 days with no back up plan, leaving passengers waiting to hear news on what's happening. The chief is being forced to resign over the incompetence. Around 22,000 reported accident calls on the roads. Bad traffic, not moving anywhere because of snow and ice. People have been getting out of their cars and walking rather than waiting. Not much help on the roads in this situation. Not many gritters to help with these icy roads and traffic not moving. As quoted from one person on the news "This country is becoming a joke. I pay taxes, so when will someone grit these roads so I can get to work"
My airport was closed today, but re-opened this afternoon. It's just the getting to the airport bit that will be frustrating. If it takes 3 hours to drive 5 miles (as has happened today on the motorways) then I'm sure to miss my flight. I'm due into the airport around 8:30am for my 11:30am flight, so fingers crossed I'll make it to Miami.
Well, not planning on sleeping tonight, since I have to leave here at 3:30am and I don't sleep well for short periods. I'd rather stay awake to be honest. I've been trying to fit everything in my suitcase. I've found that not folding clothes makes your bag appear lighter, so everything in my bag is laid out flat. I weighed it and it's just under the limit (thank god). I'd rather not give anymore money to the blood sucking airline.
Other than this recent issue, my visit here has been great and worthwhile catching up with family and friends, so the good outweigh the bad. :)
So, here's hoping I make it to Miami, if I'm lucky enough to escape this chaos. I've conquered worse. Wish me luck. :)

Proof Selection
A photographer I worked with in Austria was nice enough to let me pick images for her to edit from the proofs. I've managed to get it down to a final selection of favorites, but need to pick maybe 5 or 6 finals from these. I can't be greedy, since she hired me so it's to her discretion whether she wants to give me images or not.
Here are the proofs I finally selected. What do you think? Which do you like?

I just found out I'm in the October issue of Focus Magazine. Exciting. It's nice to know my work is being used in other mediums :) You can see my tear sheets here: http://katyt.com/#/tear-sheets/4518617276

No Sleep For Me
...because I just received some images from Vienna and I just had to share them with you! This was my second time working with Robert and I hope it won't be my last. He's always so much fun to work with and creating with him is so easy as we are so well connected.
We started the shoot at 4pm, as Robert was traveling back from Berlin. The shoot went on until around 11pm. I was amazed we were both buzzing so much with energy. We had a very talented make-up artist who also tried some black body paint on me, with glitter. It looked incredible and photographed so well. It was worth it, even though the shower afterwards was agonizing and I'm still finding bits of black paint randomly in hidden places, lol.
We used Robert's famous "pure white light" for some beauty shots and then played with the lighting to create this beautiful whispy light, making some of the shots look a little editorial. Then at around 11:30pm we retired to the pub for a late snack and to review the images. I adore them, so have to post them up. Hope you do also.
Enjoy :)

The End Of Another Tour...
Time goes by so quickly. If you blink, you'll miss it! I'm starting to realize more now that I'm not taking full advantage of the benefits that come with traveling. I need to be getting my camera out and capturing the world as I see it. I see so much that I should be capturing images, rather than leaving them in my mind. I have plans to pick up a camera next year and we'll see how that goes.
My trip has been a success, despite phone issues in the 2nd week. Dropping your phone is never good, especially when in another country of German speaking people. It's been tough communicating as all I've had is the internet, but I managed to get a laptop phone, but for that I need an internet connection. My resulting adventures included driving randomly around residential areas to find a free connection outside someone's house, just to make a phone call. Cheeky, lol.
Well, every shoot on this trip has been creative in different ways. There was a point about a year ago where I wondered how long I could continue shooting and coming up with something new, as there's only so much your body can do, but since then I surprised myself, as my work is always developing into something new and fresh. Additionally, every photographer I work with is so different. It's always a collaboration and when two artists come together, their styles merge and they create unique imagery that is unlike any other.
One of my shoots in Amsterdam (Netherlands) was interesting. The photographer literally cleaned the floor by rolling around everywhere. If anyone needs some cleaning, I'll give you his number. He does a thorough job, lol. :) He was literally dancing and moving around me as I posed. He was capturing me naturally and from every angle, with camera confrontations to bring out mood and character. Very interesting. I even got to hold a camera and attack him with it!! The shots look great and very French/Paris style. It was nice to show my French side. I even did a shot that I had always dreaded, purely because in my mind I never thought I could achieve it with my style of modeling, but this photographer had already got me in character with his way of working, so I took the risk and it worked! It was a shot with a cigarette, looking sensual and blowing smoke at the lens. I don't smoke. Occasionally, if I've had red wine and I'm in somewhere like Las vegas, I'll take a few puffs of my partner's cigar.
I was happy doing the shots, but if you can imagine, to get this right takes several takes, and I had already smoked half a cigarette by then, lol. I thought I would end up a smoker after this shoot, but no chance. It was worth doing for the shots though. I'll post them when he's edited them. There is something about a cigarette that relaxes your mind and brings out a certain sensual quality in the person smoking it. This may be why it became so popular in Paris and set the Paris look.
It's been great catching up with various people on my travels, in Vienna/Austria, Germany and Netherlands. My schedule was booked up so no time to spend quality social time out here, but next time I plan on leaving a couple of days open. I plan on being in the UK & Europe again in June and July, covering Germany, Vienna/Austria, Netherlands, France, England, Belgium, and maybe Spain. Not sure about Spain still. Make a request if you'd like me to visit! :) Vienna is very pretty at night, with all the Christmas lights. Like Frankfurt, your eye gets distracted when you're driving with lights everywhere. Very Christmasy :)
Well, on Friday I had a shoot with a photographer that I had been trying to work with for just over a year. Simone Attisani. We created some amazing work out in the snow (my 2009 Christmas card), as well as the studio. I really can't wait to use some of the studio shots because they're very special. He was nice enough to let me stay with him and his girlfriend and we used his studio space in the house. Of course, its not like me to drink on a shoot but he gave me a small glass of red wine to set the mood of the shoot. In true Katy T style, the hair was flying. I was not drunk, lol, but the wine relaxed my mood and set a theme. We created some nice work. I can't wait to work with Simone again next year when he comes to America, in my favorite location :)
Anyway, just to be clear that there is a rumor out there that's not true. I'm not retiring next year. I am, however, working on a project next year and I don't plan on traveling with a crazy schedule like I did this year. I'll be making very select trips next year, so please look out for my travel dates because I may not be back in your area again for a while. I'm likely to be in your area just once or twice in 2010.
Right now I'm in Vienna, Austria. I leave here tomorrow morning and fly to England to spend the week with my parents there, before flying to Miami south beach for Christmas and New Year's. Should be a lot of fun, although I did not survive a lunch in Miami, so how a New year's?! Lol. Then I finally get to go home to Phoenix, Arizona to see my cat on the 3rd Jan.
Anyway, hope everyone is having a good Christmas holiday. I posted my Christmas card below. Hope you like it. More images and updates to come from me soon. :)

Merry Christmas!!!
It was getting so close, but I finally got my annual Christmas nude! It was taken yesterday by Simone Attisani, an amazing photographer in Villach, Austria. This image was actually shot in Italy, not far from the border of Austria and Slovenija, so I got to visit 2 (almost 3) countries in less than an hour, without the jet lag! :)
I hope you like this image. I love the tones in it, the scale, and of course the beautiful mountain scenery. Very much Austria. He gave me the color versions also, but b&w is just timeless. I may post up the color ones over the next few days to show you how they look and get your opinions.
My toes finally defrosted after this session but it was worth braving the cold for these images. Will post up an update from my Europe trip very soon :)
